Job Title Electrical Engineer

MISSION

 Integrate, install, test, and maintain electrical systems for the company's robotic platforms.

The primary focus of this role is the integration of reliable and robust electrical systems, including:

  • Wiring
  • Cable harnesses
  • Power distribution
  • Sensors
  • Actuators
  • Motors
  • Control systems

The engineer will contribute to the entire product development lifecycle, from prototype integration and testing to industrialization, production, and field support, with a strong focus on:

  • System reliability
  • Safety
  • Performance
  • Maintainability
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Electrical System Integration

Responsibilities

  • Integrate and install electrical systems and components on robotic platforms.
  • Design and implement wiring, cable harnesses, connectors, and electrical interfaces.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable documentation.
  • Plan cable routing and installation while considering space, accessibility, protection, vibration, and maintainability.
  • Integrate power distribution systems, power supplies, batteries, and electrical protection devices.
  • Select appropriate electrical components such as connectors, cables, switches, relays, fuses, and other electrical hardware based on system requirements.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and component datasheets.
  • Support electrical system development and improvements based on system requirements and field feedback.

2. Robotics & Embedded Systems

Responsibilities

  • Integrate electrical systems for mobile robots and autonomous robotic platforms.
  • Integrate sensors such as LiDAR, cameras, IMUs, encoders, proximity sensors, and other robotic sensing devices.
  • Integrate and connect motors, actuators, brakes, and other electromechanical components.
  • Support the integration of motor and actuator control systems.
  • Work with microcontroller based systems such as STM32 or equivalent platforms.
  • Support the integration of hardware with firmware, embedded software, and higher level robotic software.
  • Work with communication interfaces and protocols commonly used in robotics and embedded systems.
  • Troubleshoot communication and control issues between sensors, electrical systems, actuators, and software.
  • Understand the overall architecture of robotic systems and the interfaces between electrical, electronic, embedded, and software components.

3. Integration, Testing & Validation

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical integration, functional testing, debugging, and validation of robotic systems.
  • Use laboratory equipment such as:
    ○ Multimeters
    ○ Oscilloscopes
    ○ Logic analyzers
    ○ Power supplies
  • Perform electrical continuity, insulation, voltage, current, and signal checks.
  • Conduct reliability, endurance, and environmental testing, including:
    ○ Vibration
    ○ Temperature
    ○ EMC
    ○ IP protection testing
  • Analyze electrical failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues involving electrical, electronic, embedded, and robotic systems.
  • Develop and improve test procedures to verify electrical system performance and reliability.

4. Industrialization & Production

Responsibilities

  • Support the transition of electrical systems from prototype to production.
  • Prepare electrical assembly, wiring, testing, inspection, and quality control procedures (SOPs).
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, system documentation, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Support the assembly and installation of electrical systems and cable harnesses during production.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors for cables, connectors, electrical assemblies, and other components.
  • Support production teams in troubleshooting electrical and wiring issues.
  • Improve electrical system assembly processes to enhance reliability, quality, maintainability, and cost efficiency.

5. Field Support & Continuous Improvement

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to production, maintenance, and field teams.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and wiring issues on robots operating in the field.
  • Analyze field failures, maintenance feedback, and operational issues to identify areas for improvement.
  • Propose improvements to wiring, electrical architecture, component selection, and system integration.
  • Investigate recurring electrical failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain technical documentation and ensure that electrical and wiring information remains accurate and up to date.

6. Cross Functional Collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with firmware, software, mechanical, production, maintenance, and system engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with other departments throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Participate in system integration activities, design reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Define and manage interfaces between electrical systems and other robotic subsystems.
  • Monitor new technologies and industry trends in:

 Education

Degree or equivalent education in:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Related technical field

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Fundamental knowledge of electrical systems and electrical components.

  • Basic knowledge of wiring, cable harnesses, connectors, and electrical installation practices.
  • Good understanding of electrical components and their applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret component datasheets.
  • Basic understanding of power distribution and electrical protection systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems using tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Basic understanding of embedded systems and the interaction between hardware, firmware, and software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with electrical wiring and cable harness design or assembly.
  • Experience with electrical CAD tools and electrical documentation.
  • Experience with microcontrollers such as STM32 or equivalent platforms.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols used in robotics and embedded systems.
  • Experience integrating sensors such as LiDAR, cameras, IMUs, encoders, or other robotic sensors.
  • Experience with motor control, motion control, or actuator systems.
  • Experience with battery systems, power distribution, power electronics, or electrical protection.
  • Basic knowledge of embedded systems and firmware development.
  • Basic knowledge of robotics frameworks and autonomous robotic systems.
  • Experience working with mobile robots, autonomous vehicles, or other robotic platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical safety and functional safety principles for robotic systems.
LANGUAGES One of the following language profiles is required:
  • Native level Japanese with conversational level English.

OR

  • Business level English with conversational level Japanese.

The ability to communicate effectively in both Japanese and English in a professional and technical environment is preferred.

Working Hours

9:00~18:00
*We utilize a staggered work hour system (you can adjust your 8-hour workday, with arrival times between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM, and departure times between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM)
